Collage and Abstract Paintings

I began making art at a young age in Quincy, Illinois.  I received a BFA at the Art Institute of Chicago with a focus in fiber arts and video.  After collage I moved to Iowa City, Iowa where I juggled social service work and art.  I moved to Pittsburgh in 2009.  My preferred medium is collage, painting and mixed media.  I love to re-contextualize found objects and images that move me visually and emotionally.  A large body of my past work deals with memory and its tendency to modify or adapt with time and occurrence.  Although some pieces in this show flirt with my past themes of memory, this particular body of work tends to lean toward abstraction.
